Primary Food

This is a new beginning. No excuses, just me and my blog. I've officially started school and it has already taught me so much. Let's start with the central part of nutritional well-being—primary food. Because if your not getting enough of this—positivity around relationships, physical activity, your career and spirituality—well then the food isn't really going to matter. Integrating this positivity into your life can be hard, so start small—for instance, take a meditation or yoga class, healthy for the mind and the body. When you're ready, visualize where you want to be in six months from now and start letting that intention lead the way, helping you make the right decisions for you. In her book, "The Best Year of Your Life," author Debbie Ford challenges us with this question, "What would be possible if you lived every day this year with a vivid sense of meaning, purpose and direction?" Now that's a good question. Let's find out.

Quick Meals

Was off fishing (or something like that) for a long weekend, hence the lack of blogging—no computers in the wilderness (at least not yet). Today I'll share a few of my current healthy indulgences. Breakfast: Amy's Tofu Scramble in a Pocket Sandwich. I know, sounds kinda gross, but I promise, it is actually really yummy. As an assignment for school I had to try eating something different every morning for a week; one day it was fruit, another eggs, another tofu eggs and so on and so forth to see how the foods contribute to how I feel during the day (worth trying). That's how I came across this filling meal. It's made with organic tofu, mushrooms and peppers. For lunch, I like other Amy's brand products, like the burritos, which are easy to take to work and fairly inexpensive. Cedarlane (another good brand) has a pizza pocket sandwich that is terrific. It's made with mostly organic ingredients and is very low in fat. Overall, I try to look for foods with natural ingredients, that are low in sugar and high in fiber. Happy eating...

Clearing Up the Food Dilemma

I love food. You do too. I love to feel healthy. You do too. I don't know nearly enough about what foods are truly best for my body. Neither do you. You may know what's best for your body, but this is my blog right? No, but seriously, we can all learn a little bit more about making the right decisions when it comes to eating. I've taken the first step by enrolling in the Institute for Integrated Nutrition. O.k., maybe it's more of my out from corporate America, but at least one of us is making an effort. Travel with me on my journey to becoming a holistic nutritional counselor, and I swear to share all my new-found knowledge, recipes, restaurant ideas and general banter on eating right.
